Frequently Asked Questions
If you can’t find your answer here, feel free to fill out the form below and we will reach back to you.
How do I get to Tofino?
For the most scenic and efficient route, take the Hullo private ferry from downtown Vancouver directly to Nanaimo. From there, our exclusive shuttle service will pick you up and transport you across the island, through the mountains, and straight to the heart of Tofino.
Do you offer transportation from Victoria?
? Yes. In addition to our Nanaimo connections, we provide a scheduled shuttle service from Victoria. We handle the driving through the winding coastal passes so you can sit back and enjoy the world-class views.
Do I need a car once I arrive?
While Tofino is adventurous, it is also very accessible. Between our shuttle service, the local multi-use bike paths, and the walkable downtown core, many of our guests find they can fully experience the coast without the hassle of a rental car.
When is the best time to visit?
Summer is best for sun and calm waters; Spring and Fall are ideal for wildlife and hiking; Winter (Nov–Feb) is storm-watching season.
Can beginners really surf here?
Absolutely. Tofino’s sandy-bottom beaches are world-class for learning. Our partners provide expert instructors and high-quality, thick wetsuits to keep you warm and safe.
What should I pack?
Think layers. Bring a waterproof shell, a warm mid-layer, and sturdy boots. Even in summer, the coastal mist can be cool, so be prepared for “liquid sunshine.”
When can I see whales and bears?
Whales are most active from March through October. Bear viewing is best at low tide throughout the spring and summer when they forage along the shoreline.
